Magnuson Hotel Virginia Beach

For the price you can’t beat it! We checked in very late at night due to another hotel mishap and Miss banks was the lady who checked us in since it was so late she told us all about the security on stand by. The rooms were clean and everything was great! Very nice helpful staff!

Ok this place is great. I read all the reviews and when I got here to check in today, I went and looked before I checked in to see if I wanted to stay. First let's start with the staff at the front desk very nice very nice they were pretty cool she was telling me a story about Virginia Beach because I'm not from here. Then the other lady I told her about the reviews and she said don't believe all that stuff. So when my daughter's and my son came into room and looked it was amazing it was spotless it didn't smell like cigarette smoke there were no roaches it was very clean The pool was fun amazing and the customer service is excellent I don't know what these people are talking about here but give this place a chance it's probably not their fault that these rooms get like that there are some dirty people out there and sometimes there's not enough help to clean these rooms but I'm sure if they do get a complaint they clean it immediately after they're told about it. I really like this place Love the service the people and the room is immaculate air conditioning pool Wi-Fi cable etc. I will be back, this place rocks and great service. I booked this place for a whole week, now it's time to enjoy it. Love it here. They're making my vacation with my family wonderful.

The employees at the front desk at check in and out were very nice. Especially the lady at check out. Amazing customer service. The room was clean. Some work needs to be done around the outside of the buildings (broken window, some trash, ice machines, etc). Smelled like weed which gave me a headache . That was the worst part. Otherwise the room was clean, bed comfy, nice pillows and cold air. Workers were great and fast.

The staff was very friendly and helpful! Checking in and out was a breeze. My husband and I had a non smoking king bed room. The rooms are pretty basic, but there's no complaints about that for the sweet price. There wasn't a comforter for the bed, only sheets and (I forget the name) a decorative slip of fabric for the foot of the bed. There were three pillows available which was enough for us. The bathroom was super clean and the water pressure was great. The dresser drawers sometimes liked to open up/roll out, but I think that's just because they're a little old. A/C and heater worked splendidly. Awesome for the price point

My mom and I were very happy when stayed here 4 or 5 years ago. Because everything was good before, the price was good and the room was good, I stayed there again recently. The furniture was upgraded, matter of fact the whole room was. The room was great and the front desk was very pleasant. I would stay there again.

I was surprised in a good way when I arrived at this hotel. I am a truck driver and my company made a reservation at this hotel, I read the reviews and I was scared to come here, but I came ready to go somewhere else if I didn’t feel safe or the place was not clean enough, if you read some of the reviews you’ll understand my concern. My room was clean, the place was quiet, the girl that checked me in late at night was super pleasant, I am sorry I didn’t get her name. Checked out the same thing, the girl checking out was super pleasant as well. I don’t know what kind of experience these other people had but for me, I just needed one good night sleep, and I got it. I drive a semi truck and they allowed me to park my tractor and trailer in their parking lot, as I was driving a daycab. I have absolutely no complaints.

My lady and I have hotel hopped around Norfolk, VA around the Janaf/Military Hwy/Northampton Area for the past 6 months. We've had good and not so good experiences at different hotels. So far the Magnuson has been a blessing. A hidden gem in plane view. The rooms are surprisingly clean with modern styling accents. It looks like an interior designer with a knack for affordable but elegant may have a future in the budget hotel space. I hope so at least. It's quiet the guests seem to be close knit for some reason. It's safe it's clean and it is not only affordable but the weekend prices don't gouge your already thin wallet/pockets. I'd give it a chance it's like a stay cation if you're local. Like you went to Florida real quick but just a conveniently difficult to access hang suite. My girl and I wanted to go on a date to the attached Asian cuisine restaurant Fuji Hana. The name sounds like a familiar already known household name. The kind everyone brags about but never gets to go to. Hopefully they find a good promotion squad for the restaurant. Let the hotel remain cheap and the two will be their own interchangeable success stories. The rest of the local businesses will benefit as well. Thank you to this location for being another place in Norfolk that I have felt safe to be a wacky creative person without feeling out of place. Get Will Ferrell and his son in a commercial or something Magnus, Magnuson... sells itself! Edit: The more deluxe rooms are way way nice. It gets a bit rougher near the front building but it could just have been our room. I think it could be them renovating from what it looks like. It still has a lot of promise. The staff was really nice and very attentive. They were very helpful and understanding beyond expectations. I hope to stay with them again sometime in the future and finally get to eat at the Fuji Hana restaurant to check it out.
